The JISH Clinical Competency Certification Program (JCCCP)

To meet the growing need of the clinic and to overcome the shortage of speech-language pathologists certified by The American Speech and Hearing Association (ASHA) in Saudi Arabia and the Arab world, JISH established a pioneer program for internal clinical certification: The JISH Clinical Competency Certification Program (JCCCP). The JCCCP is a comprehensive two year training program for JISH non ASHA certified speech-language pathologists. The program has an academic and a clinical practicum component, and is designed, implemented and supervised by ASHA certified speech-language pathologists. The purpose of this program is to ensure that all JISH speech-language pathologists are conducting speech-language evaluations and treatment within the clinical standards set by The American Speech and Hearing Association. JISH certified clinicians who have not yet been certified by ASHA continue to be supervised according to the regulations set by ASHA.

The JISH Aura/Oral Rehabilitation Therapist Certification

The JISH Aural/Oral Rehabilitation Certification training program was initiated to meet the on-going need for therapists to work with the hearing impaired and deaf children at JISH. Due to the shortage of speech-language pathologists and the very high incidence of hearing impaired and deaf children in our community and in our clinic, JISH designed a comprehensive program to train special educators in aural/oral rehabilitation to work with these children. These therapists must complete the first year of the JCCC program in addition to more specialized courses required to become an aural/oral rehabilitation therapist. The program is two years long during and after which the therapists work under direct supervision of ASHA certified speech-language pathologists.
